The Golf Course

A Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary

The Boca Raton Golf Course has retained its longstanding designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. Originally certified in 2011, the Golf Course continues to meet the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses’ criteria for preservation and enhancing wildlife habitat, and protecting natural resources.

Positive efforts in Wildlife Habitat Management includes promoting excellent habitat for a variety of wildlife, investing in battery-powered equipment to reduce noise pollution, and ensuring all newly introduced vegetation is native. Notable water conservation efforts are irrigating exclusively with non-potable water, investing in moisture meter technology and weather data to make more informed irrigation decisions, and establishing drought-resistant, native grasses to help reduce irrigation. Chemical use reduction and safety includes improving soil and turf health, following more environmentally forward pest management practices that have resulted in a less dependence on synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, and introducing newer varieties of turf that require less chemical inputs.

Reduction of Water & Plastic Use

Guests at The Boca Raton receive a reusable water bottle to enjoy both during their stay and as a keepsake to take home afterward. Our gift to you (and the environment), the bottle can be filled at various water refill stations throughout the property. In addition, inside the guest rooms and suites at the all-new Beach Club, guests can refill their bottles at the wet bar, which features a water filtration system.

Local Food

Seafood & Honey

The Boca Raton has maintained a strong relationship with local food purveyors, oftentimes with the focus on strengthening our food ecosystem. That includes a close partnership with BeeMade Honey, a Palm City farm that produces the honey used on at The Boca Raton, who also saved a bee hive of around 500 pollinators. After identifying the hive and its precarious location high above a kapok tree at The Boca Raton, BeeMade Honey worked closely with the resort and club to safely move the hive, preserving and rescuing the all-important bees.

For nearly a decade, The Boca Raton culinary team has worked with local fishermen to deliver fresh seafood to the resort, oftentimes caught right off our coastline just hours before it’s served to Members and guests. The responsibly sourced wild-caught seafood is transported just short a distance to our harbor, resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions, which has a large environmental impact.
